Our team has received funding as part of our college’s latest research initiative for our research on women in STEM on social media:
Promoting equity, inclusion, and belonging: Examining women in STEM on TikTok (Co-PI; Steinke & Suk). Research in Academic Themes 2022 Funding Initiative, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, University of Connecticut (UConn), 2022: $50,000
Our team (collaborators Mike Schmierbach, Penn State; Alyssa Appelman, Northern Kentucky University; Mike Boyle, West Chester University) has received $4,000 from the Penn State summer news literacy fund to develop misinformation interventions about climate change on social media this summer, which will be tested in future research.
I’ll be conducting research on social media literacy in the Digital Citizenship in Network Technologies (DICINT) lab at Universität Duisburg-Essen in Germany in Fall 2020.
